Solstice Shredding?

It is pretty hairy out there in the backcountry right now. The resorts are filling in nicely though.

Here's a sweet segment from a 4 part installment on Bryan Iguchi done by Vice (who puts the best stuff on youtube). The other 3 segments are worth a watch, but the third has the best footage of "the Guch" killing some backcountry lines. Enjoy.

Ahh Resort Skiing

 Hell yeah lift lines.

Traffic on the way to the good stuff.

Tyler is behind that poof of snow with a big ol' smile on his face.

Cold n' Hazy

Got a couple of turns in this morning on my K2 Super Stinks. Felt good to drop the knee into that very cold snow. Made me think about throwing a thermometer on the ski pack. Although, do you really want to know the temp when you can't feel your toes?

Literal Dawn Patrol

Skinning at 6am on a Monday is a good way to start the week.

Stoked to See

I imagine that anyone who bothers to look at this blog has already seen the trailer for the new Jeremy Jones movie. I feel compelled to post it anyway. I'm super stoked to see it.

Back at it

There is finally some snow up in the hills and the mountains look majestic and beautiful again.

I've been out camping, scoping some new stuff and actually got out for a ride this weekend which was a lot of fun.

Oct camping in the Absaroka Mountains:
Gordie is stoked for ski season.

 Mr. Human Powered in camp.

The enticing Blacktail Peak.

Slightly north of Bridger Bowl 11/9:

 Farmed out apron.

 Looking north.

There's a crap layer in there so we rode conservative.

I forgot about this couloir.

June 1st on Mt Blackmore

Headed up Blackmore friday night with Sam and Kyle.

Still a bit of snow up there.

The crew looking at the summit cone and the North face.

 Sam snurfed some sweet turns.

Me on the upper east face.

Elephant still had a bunch of snow too. Not sure if The Ribbon is still skiable.

The long hike out.

Kyle with a victory PBR and some expired canned chilli. Dude is a true mountain man.

A Lack of Effort

I have been out splitting recently and I have been doing a bunch of biking. I wish that I was doing more of both.

I have not been posting because I have been lazy.

I will probably be putting up a few photos to cover the last month and I am in the process of planning some potential biking, splitting and camping trips. I will try to combine these things, but it's hard when most of your objectives are in Wilderness (no room for wheels in the Wilderness only hooves).

If only we could share the beautiful places like they do in the UK:

Footplants

This video will get you stoked if you are a skater at heart. OG foot plants and the origins of the trick and variations. Makes me glad I got out skating today.
And Grosso is the man!

5 Snowboarders Taken in CO

"PRELIMINARY REPORT
A backcountry touring party of six, on splitboards and skis, were caught in an avalanche in the Sheep Creek area near Loveland Pass. Five of the riders were killed. The group may have triggered the avalanche from below the start zone, low in the avalanche path. The avalanche released into old snow layers and the ground. Approximate dimensions of the crown face of the avalanche are 4 feet deep and 500 feet wide." - CO Avalanche Information Center

My thoughts are with the families of those lost and with the backcountry riders of CO.

Post "Season" Powder

Another beautiful evening up at Bridger Bowl with some sweet fresh snow.

I found the whiteroom.
Dave was stoked all day for this.
 And I can not lie
Riding some Rome snowboards. They both rip in pow.
Second line we rode. Don't know the name.
Dave also found the whiteroom.

Late Day Bridger

Cruised up Bridger and dropped into Sluice at 7pm.
Back home before dark.

Sun cresting the ridge.

Sebago on the ridge.

Dave B on the ridge.

Whiskey Dave is stoked.

Super fun deep turns.

Middle Basin

Had plans on trying to ski the SW Coulior on Beehive yesterday, but opted for lower elevation riding because of sporadic weather and white out conditions.

Daved enjoyed the 6 inches of powder.

 As did I.

We also rode that coulior in the middle of this photo.

Steep at the top.

Dave getting it done.

View of Beehive on the way out.

Bridger Bowl 4/7/13

Hard to turn down a $20 lift ticket. Mix of conditions made it interesting.
Trying to keep up with Mason was also fun.

Me in Hidden Gully.
